I am a fully trained and experienced Psychotherapist and accredited member of BACP and an Associate member of UKAHPP.
Working Style
My style is very relational. I use a mixture of listening, warmth, empathy, a broad life experience, intuition and many years of personal psychological and transformational work. This creates a space for you to feel able to share and work with what is often experienced as too uncomfortable. I will work with you at a rate of personal discovery and change that fits right for you. I will regularly check in with you throughout our work together.
I am extensively trained in Psychodynamic Therapy, and blend this with insights from Body Psychotherapy, Integrative Psychosexual Therapy, Transpersonal Therapy, CBT and Transformational Coaching.
I believe that the most important part of the work is the therapeutic relationship between us. Trust can take time to develop and possible dynamics or patterns that happen with other relationships in your life may get replayed out in the sessions. This can be a great opportunity to uncover unconscious blind spots and challenge yourself in a safe environment.
I will observe and sense the physical and emotional reactions and responses inside, around you and between us, work with your thoughts and beliefs and possibly at times work with the creative arts as a key to unlock what you may be holding emotionally and/or in the body. This is particularly helpful when you might find talking difficult. Past traumas can often be frozen in the body and out of awareness, therefore an important part of our work together is to help illuminate what is unconscious into conscious awareness; this can then support your choices and personal empowerment and sense of well being .
I often use reading materials and homework as a therapeutic tool to keep continuity, consolidate and integrate awareness from the sessions and between them. I find this helps individuals to see how they are progressing, thus supporting you in becoming the predominant creative force in designing and living, and at times tolerating, a life you love inside and out.
